A recent study by a debt management solutions provider, suggests the average medical student may accrue approximately $164,800 in debt. However, attending one of the following 10 institutions may allow students to reduce their debt by $42,231, on average.

To identify the most affordable medical schools in the country, 110 medical schools were surveyed according to three factors: annual tuition costs, average indebtedness at graduation and the percentage of borrowers receiving institutional aid.

3. Baylor College of Medicine (Houston)

4. Texas A&M College of Medicine (Bryan)

5. Mayo Clinic School of Medicine (Rochester, Minn.)

6. Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine (Lubbock)

7. University of Central Florida College of Medicine (Orlando)

8. David Geffen School of Medicine at UC Los Angeles

9. University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Dallas)
